On the basis of new Wuhan railway station Eastern No.1# viaduct, a 30.08+29.5+30.5+27.5m prestressed concrete continuous beam bridge (R = 25m), the present paper gives a study of reasonable restraint and the choice of pier stiffness in extra-small radius curved bridge. The main contents of this paper are presented as follows:1. Curved beam bridges of different radius are established by single-beam model, to analyzing the influence of radius on stress and summarizing the mechanical characteristic of extra-small radius curved beam bridge.2. The reasonable pedestal restraint should be used in extra-small radius curved beam bridge is discussed through comparing the influence of six different bearing restraints on stress.3. Detailed comparison is done to find the changing of stress when different eccentricities are set at each mid-pier, analyzing the method of finding the best mid-pier eccentricity of extra-small radius curved beam bridge.4. Pier stiffness of extra-small radius curved beam bridge is studied about: analyzing the changing of stress under different height and section size of pier in both girder and piers, and probing the reasonable pier stiffness of the extra-small radius curved beam bridges.
