Telescopic handler is a new product combined with traditional trucks, wheel loader, aerial work platform and small truck cranes. It is indispensable to the agriculture, architecture and other projects. The structure and performance of the telescopic handler can directly affect the whole performance.In this paper, taking the operating design of the SWTH3514 telescopic handler for example, the kinematics and dynamics model are established based on vector equation method and Newton-Euler approach. In MTLAB-Simulink environment, using computer simulation technology, the dynamics model of the work device of the telescopic handler is established, and the dynamical Characteristics under different loading can be calculated. Provided the lifting ability and dumping angle are guaranteed, the luffing mechanism, the six-bar mechanism and the parallel moving error model for optimization of shifting performance are set up respectively. Meanwhile, the mathematic model can be worked out by multi-objective optimal method and the genetic algorithm toolbox. On this basis, the parallel moving error, lifting capacity, transmission capacity motive capacity of the six-bar mechanism and dynamics characteristics are analyzed and compared after optimization.In order to testify the correctness of the dynamics model of the work device, the feasibility of simulation study and the effectiveness of the optimal design, the SWTH3514 telescopic handler works as an experimental platform, then corresponding experiment is designed and the experimental data are analyzed.
