In recent years, due to the development tendency of the railway to be overload and high speed, the train's axle load and speed have been greatly improved. Nevertheless, the attendant increase in subgrade dynamic stress conditions has led to roadbed deterioration. On the other hand, the railway network has continued expanding and related information amount has kept increasing, which have brought challenges to the traditional subgrade diseases information management. In this case, it is necessary to establish an efficient and convenient system to achieve management on the information of the heavy haul railway subgrade disease.Combining with the disease situation in Shuohuang heavy haul railway and special conditions, this paper described in detail the type of railway subgrade disease, detection methods, remediation tools, and research status of the disease information management. Followed by a discussion of the involved software and technology of system development, the functional requirements and development environment of the heavy haul railway subgrade disease information management system were analyzed. Then the author continued with system architecture, system functions and system security design, and then established an information management system about heavy haul railway subgrade disease.The system carried out a second development using the Visual Basic language and MapX control software from the company MapInfo, which the database uses Microsoft Access. Utilizing the powerful spatial analysis of GIS and visualization features, and integrating the heavy haul railway subgrade disease information with geospatial information, functions like visual query, data management, multimedia display and print output of heavy haul railway subgrade disease information management system can be achieved. The system interface is friendly with simple operation, open and good scalable. The system functions as well as the database will be constant improved, so this system will have the potential to become the information sharing platform for railway management bureaus and related scientific research institutions, which will also be able to provide technical support for the further analysis of disease and decision-making.
