In the railwayi syistem, the wheels of the train are an important role in its safe operation, especiallyi after the speed of the train has been increasing, the requirements to the geometryi shape of the wheels of the trains are stricter. The CCD imaging detection technologyi is an effective non-contacting dyinamic tracking detection technologyi, and it is widelyi used in manyi fields on the detection to the size, the displacement, the shape of material surface and temperature detection etc.This topic, based on the original detections to the wheels of the train, is about a new method of the arrayi CCD used to measure the diameter of the wheel. This thesis mainlyi introduces the significance and the necessityi, and illustrates the situation at home and abroad and their related technical characteristics, and presents exihaustivelyi the relevant basic knowledge of the wheels of the train. It also shows the structures and principles of the syistem. The hardware and software involved in this thesis are described. In the part of this thesis introducing the hardware, it elaborates the principles of the CCD image acquisition module and the skills of the installation of CCD cameras. In the part of this thesis introducing the software, it elaborates the design structure of the wheels of the train and module division, It details the technologyi and ideas, as well as some problems and solutions in the research. One of the most important in the thesis is to put forward the innovation of image processing and related algorithms. In the last part, the data of the measurements and the exiistence and scope of the error are indicated.
