When the same type vehicles with same performance are running on the section of road which has the specific design speed, and when the road and traffic environment condition are also similar, some drivers are travelling faster than the road's design speed. But some drivers are travelling significantly slower than the road's design speed. The reason of this problem is that different drivers establish different expectation speed in their minds.Basic on the relevant research results of domestic and international literature, the expectation speed is analyzed in this paper using the systems analysis method. First the formation process of the expectation speed, factors which are influencing the expectation speed and the relationship between traffic safety and the expectation speed are analyzed. Then the preliminary experiment of single factor is designed. Have built the three-dimensional scene model, the simulation experiment is carried out in the Driving Simulator. There are many different experiment processes which have been carried out. Then the optimum experiment process is selected on these experiment results. The experimental data is analyzed using the SPSS software. And then this paper finds the laws how the lane amount, lane width and shoulder width influence the expectation speed. Using the numerical analysis, the relationship between the lane amount and expectation speed, the relationship between the lane width and expectation speed, the relationship between the shoulder width and expectation speed are regressed. The horizontal deviation of all experimental drivers is also analyzed in this paper. And then this paper finds the laws how the lane amount, lane width and shoulder width influence the horizontal deviation. In the addition, the experiment questionnaire is done. The degree how the lane amount, lane width and shoulder width affect the expectation speed in the driver's subjective world is analyzed in this paper.Based on the results of the expectation speed simulation experiment, the integrated model has been built. As how to evaluate the lane amount, lane width, shoulder width, driver conditions and vehicle conditions, and how to select the correction factors of them are explained in this paper.
