In this paper,β-cyclodextrin was permanently grafted onto cotton fabric by two kinds of chemical grafting methods.It is proved thatβ-cyclodextrin could be grafted onto cotton fabric by DL-malic acid and epichlorohydrin.The factors affecting theβ-cyclodextrin content and the physical properties of the grafted fabric were researched.The optimal grafting process of theβ-cyclodextrin onto cotton fabrics were fixed on separately.We can see by infrared spectra that DL-malic acid and epichlorohydrin as cross-linking bridge did not damage fundamental fiber cotton fabric.At the same timeβ-cyclodextrin inclusion characteristics are still retained.The new fabrics have a lot of new characteristic, such as spices slow-release, air deodorization, etc. The results show that the quotiety ofβ-cyclodextrin is about 13%.The fabric weight loss was small after 20 times washing showd that the new fabric was good in washing fastnessThe functionality cotton fabric which included medicine (eugenol) was produced with the inclusion capability ofβ-cyclodextrin.The content of the medicine was measured.The stability and release capability in water were also investigated.The results show that drug included in theβ-cyclodextrin on the fabric can reduce its volatility significantly and extend the effective of drugs.The new cotton fabric included 18.5 ug medicines per gram.The release of the eugenol was at a good state when the cotton fabric was at the temperature of humans,that is the release rate between 50% and 80%.The eugenol release was nearly balance over 150 min in water at 30℃in water.
