Two kinds of new metal matrix composite (MMC) reinforced with complex metallic alloy (CMA) were prepared:(a) AlCuFeB/Al; (b) AlCuFeCr/Al. Tribological behavior and corrosion behavior of these two MMC composite materials were studied. These two MMC composite materials may be used in automotive and aviation industry. These MMC composite materials were prepared by hot extrusion method, CMA (AlCuFeB, AlCuFeCr) round powder as reinforcement, round aluminumpowder as matrix.Tribological behavior of AlCuFeB/Al and AlCuFeCr/Al composite materials was studied at the test conditions:normal force 2 N, displacement amplitude 1000μm, frequency 1 Hz, duration 1000 cycles, diameter 10 mm Al2O3 ball as counterbody, ambient air with room temperature 23℃and 50% relative humidity, without lubrication.Corrosion behavior of AlCuFeB/Al and AlCuFeCr/Al immersed in 0.9 wt% NaCl solution was investigated by means of electrochemical method such as open circuit potential, potentiodynamic polarization curve and chronopotentiometric, at room temperature 23℃.Accorrding to experiment results, some conclusions were drawn. (1) Adding CMA particles into Al matrix could improve the strength, wear reisitance, corrosion reisitance of metal Al matrix. (2) The wear mechanism of AlCuFeB/Al was abrasive with some adhesive wear and AlCuFeCr/Al was adhesive wear. (3) The corrosion mechanism of AlCuFeB/Al was galvanic coupling corrosion and AlCuFeCr/Al was pitting corrosion with some galvanic coupling corrosion. (4) Corrosion impacted the coefficient of friction and volume of wear track.
