| The formation of karst rocky desertification (KRD) is quite complex, but little related research for formation of KRD in Guizhou Province in historical period has been done in academic circles. Since the period of the Republic of China is an important transitional period, this paper which deals with the reconstructing of the distribution of KRD of Guizhou Province in this period will help us to understand the evolution of the KDR better. Based on analysis of archives, this paper restored the distribution of KDR in Guizhou Province in the period of the Republic of China, and discussed the impaction of human activities.Firstly, this paper chose five variable——lithology, rainfall, slope, population and arable land, then calculate their weighted average to explore the impacton of the possibility and extent of the KDR in Guizhou Province in the period of the Republic of China. Then a map of possible distribution of KRD in Guizhou is drawn. After comparison with another map of distribution of KRD based on an analysis of an archives from the period of the Republic of China, this paper try to redraw a revised map of distribution of KRD. According to the final map, the distribution and classification of rocky desertification according to the degree of severity in Guizhou in the period of the Republic of China is as:The most severe rocky desertification concentrated in the north, the central region and the southwest areas, especially the upper reaches of the Wu River, the North Pan River and the South Pan River. Middle rocky desertification'distribution is wider, concentrated in the north, central and west region. Light rocky desertification concentrated in the east, south region and Weining. Unobvious rocky desertification concentrated in the southeast region. his paper chose five representative counties, namely Anshun, Pan, Zunyi, Songtao, Libo for case studies. It analyzes the extent of the KDR, research the reasons of KDR combined with every county's history. Finally, the paper analyzes the relative factors, such as policy, population and land, investigate the impaction of hunman activities. |
