Lead alloy strip is widely used in manufacturing battery plate and large positive and negative plate of industrial electrolyzer. The traditional forming process is mainly composed by casting, rolling many times and trimming. Therefore, its productivity is low and its geometric waste is high, it is difficult to meet the requirements of commercial development in size.New type of lead alloy strip processing-continuous cast-rolling production of lead alloy plate help to address these issues.It's conducive to helping enterprises improve their working conditions and increase economic efficiency.The solidification of continuous cast-rolling process is very complicated, in this paper, the temperature field of continuous cast-rolling process was investigated by numerical simulation, and the simulation results had been verified by experiments.Follow content are included in this paper:Firstly, the basic heat transfer theory which were closely related to the lead alloy cast-rolling process and finite element analysis theory were described. The key issues before the numerical simulation were managed for preparation.Secondly, the temperature field of casting area in casting process was simulated with finite element analysis software ANSYS,the influence law of casting speed, casting temperature,the size of the casting roll gap and the roll diameter on the temperature field of casting area in casting process was obtained. The results indicated that:the proper casting speed is between 1~1.4m/min; the reasonable pouring temperature is between 360~400℃;the reasonable roll gap size is between 4.0~6.0mm; the better roll diameter is between 200~400mm.Thirdly, the lead alloy strip with smooth surface and good mechanical properties was prepared by experiments.Fourthly, the density of the strip, electrical conductivity and corrosion rate tests were done.The results show that the density and electrical conductivity of continuous cast-rolling strip were close to the one produced by traditional process.The corrosion resistance of continuous cast-rolling strip was better than traditional technology strip.Finally, the microstructure and mechanical properties was investigated. The results show that, the grain size of continuous casting strip was close to the one produced by traditional process, and it was more uniform. The mechanical properties of cast-rolling strip was higher than the traditional process strip about 7Mpa, it was able to meet the commercial use requirement.
