Rare earth complexes have received much attention because of their potential important application in many fields. Many chemists have showed intense interest in the synthesis and applied research of rare earth complexes . By now, study on preparation, structure characterization and luminescence property of rare earth complexes have became a fast-growing field of chemistry.Twelve solid coordination compounds of rare earth (Sm3+,Dy3+,Tb3+) and Tb3+ doped with Ln3+(La3+,Gd3+,Y3+)with p - tert- butylcalix[6]arene have been synthesized and characterized. Elemental analysis , rare earth complexometry, 1HNMR spectra and TG-DAT have been studied. The results suggest that the complexes have the composition of [RE(H4L)(DMF)6(OH)]·H6L,[RE(H3L)(DMSO)5]·4DMSO;[Tb0.5Ln0.5 (H4L)(DMF)6(OH)]·H6L,[Tb0.5 Ln0.5 (H3L) (DMSO)5]-·4DMSO, respectively. The Molar conductivity indicates that all the complexes are nonelectrolyte. IR spectra show the ligand is bonded with RE(III) ion through its oxygen actom in hydroxyl group of phenol; The coordinated atoms of DMF and DMSO are the oxygen atoms in carbonyl and sulfoxyl groups. Fluorescence spectrum suggests that the Tb3+complexes have characteristic luminescence and its fluorescene intensity is enhanced after doping with La3+,Gd3+,Y3+, influence of doping ions and Neutral ligands have also been discussed.
