| Calcium chloride (CaCl2) is a widely used basic chemical product. With continues economic development in China, the popularity and applications of CaCl2 has grown continuously and its production output has increased dramatically in recently years. The current total output has exceeded one million ton per year. However, the drying and shaping technology in current CaCl2 production process is still far behind the needs of product development. There are more and more CaCl2 manufacturers and research institutes now focusing on development of the new drying and shaping technology and equipment, which has become a center point of the technology development. Through analyzing the CaCl2 characteristics and comparing the various available techniques, this paper presented a one-step drying and granulation method in fluidized bed by CaCl2 solution. The technique has been applied to a design of 4000 ton per year anhydrous granular CaCl2 production plant. Development of calcium chloride drying technique is to improve quality of the current raw products. Improving the technology of production process will minimize the market competition and maximize the upgrade for the raw products. It will also help to develop the international market and increase the profits of the company. Utilizing principles of thermal and fluid dynamics with the practical experience in the chemical industry, this article provides a solution for the difficulties that are frequently encountered during the process of particle formation. The common phenomena during the process are feed solidification and surface deposition which often blocks the recycle system. The article provides a design that is using the distribution of the effluent piping and liquid spray heads. The design is shown to be satisfactory, which makes the system to be able to run continuously for over 30 days without the above problem. |
