In the industrial production, flexibly frictional transmission is an important form of mechanical transmission making use of friction principle. It is widely used for its advantages of simple structure, steady transmission, buffering, vibration absorption, remote transmission and so on. However, the problems of slip, creeping, variable rate of transmission and even accidents often occur in flexibly frictional transmission due to the many factors affecting it such as friction pair, contact property, materials and so on. So the study on frictional transmission is of great significance to national economy.Based on bulk transportation equipment-belt conveyor, the research objective is to better the tribology performance of driving drum by research on surface structure of drum's elastic coating, which can improve the safe operation condition and transportation efficiency.After analysis on existed frictional transmission theory and drum production development, a new thought is projected of surface structure design of drum's elastic coating. On the base of concept of non-smooth surface (generalized roughness), bionic structure and vacuum absorption, enlightenment is derived from the friction and adhesion performance of gecko sole and modification of the sole seta's structure is made according to the shape similarity with mushroom and vacuum sucker. Then a kind of coating structure of dent with truncated cone shape is finally designed after reasonable evolvement and modification. The computer simulation of final surface structure is made by MATLAB software based on Mathematical model built in this paper while the 3D model is built by UG software. The tribology performance of the new structure designed is simulated and analyzed by finite element software ABAQUS. It is proved that the new coating structure has effect on increasing friction force and improving tribology performance.The research shows that it is available to study on the effect of contact property of friction pair surface on frictional transmission. What is more, the product is of significant use for the further development of frictional transmission theory and transport equipment which is benefit to prosperity and stability of national economy.
