The polyaniline (PANI)/Talc powder compounds, the polyaniline/kaolin compounds and polyaniline/SiO2 compounds were prepared by in-situ polymerization in this dissertation. The study of particles' morphology and the distribution of polyaniline in polyaniline/inorganic compounds were performed with the scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), energy disperse spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FTIR) and thermal analysis (TG) techniques.The lamellar structure of Talc powder in compounds becomes smaller as the organic content increase from the experimental work. In the polyaniline/Talc powder compounds of Low levels of organic content(10%,20%,30%), the lamellar structure is clear and it has a tendency to decrease with the levels of organic content increased. The polyaniline/Talc powder compounds of high levels organic content arc mainly granular.The polyaniline/kaolin compounds are mainly granular and particles have a tendency to be smaller with the levels of organic increased. Polyaniline is coated on the inorganic particles, thus there are no pure polyaniline particles or pure inorganic particles in the compounds. Polyaniline is completely coated on inorganic matter particle and is well distributed.The compounds are lamellar structure or granular, and have good dispersibility. The compounds which the levels of organic content is more than 70%, still have good dispersibility and become smaller just by slightly grinding. The surface morphology of polyaniline/SiO2 compounds is different from polyaniline/Talc compounds and polyaniline/kaolin compounds. The inorganic particles become smaller in polyaniline/Talc powder compounds and polyaniline/kaolin; otherwise SiO2 particles don't change in the process of the in-situ polymerization.We have a preliminary study on the application of the polyaniline/Talc powder compounds on epoxy resin anticorrosion coating and find that polyaniline compounds have certain resistance to corrosion, but the anticorrosive effect is less clear than that of zinc power in this experiment.
