Calcium carbonate is one of the most common biominerals and also have important application in industries, and as such has received an considerable attention. The properties of calcium carbonate, such as the crystal polymorph, the particle size and shape, were strongly dependent on the preparation methods and additives. It was not only theoretically significant to research the mechanism of biomineralization but also instructively important to the biomimetic special materials with excellent properties.Biomimetic mineralization was a powerful approach for the synthesis of advanced materials with complex shape, hierarchical organization and controlled size, shape and polymorph..Calcium carbonate was produced through the thermal decomposition of urea in a 90℃and 120℃baths. The controlling ability of additives to the morphology and polymorph of calcium carbonate crystals had been investigated by introducing amino acids, polysacchatide. And investigated the effect of binary solvent on the morphology and polymorphs of CaCO3.1.Polysacchatide with–OH showed a significant influence on the crystal polymorph and morphology. Glucose and sucrose favored the formation of calcite. With increasing the concentration of glucose, the proportion of calcite was increasing, and the morphology became to abnormity. Dissolubility starch and dextrin promoted the formation of vaterite. Due to the difference of molecule structures, the morphology of vaterite was different.2. CaCO3 crystals with various shapes had been synthesized when different kind of amino acids were added. Hexagonal plate and multilayer structure of vaterite were synthesized with L-Glu, and calcite was synthesized with L-Asp. It was found that the morphology of CaCO3 was sensitive to the PH and temperature.3.We studied the growth characterization of CaCO3 in different alcohol solutions with multi-additives.Some primary researches on synergistic interaction of two kinds of additive. The results showed that multi-aditives and solute-solvent interaction had stronger effect on the crystallization morphology of CaCO3 than the unitary system did.
