Flaky aluminum powder has small particle size and high surface activity.And it is facile to react with oxygen,water,acid and alkali and make the powder lose some characteristics like metal luster.In order to decrease the permeation of O2,H2O,H+ and OH-,flaky aluminum powder coated with a copolymer membrane was investigated, and the process mechanism was discussed.And flaky aluminum powder coated by copolymerization was prepared,used trimethylol propane trimethacrylate,acrylic acid and styrene as monomers,2,2'-Azo-bis-isobutyronitrile as initiator and 150# solvent oil as the dispersion medium with the protection of nitrogen.The effect of the condition of copolymerization reaction was also considered,such as the reaction temperature,the reaction time,the amount of the monomer,initiator and others.The corrosion inhibition efficiency,brightness,coating efficiency were carried out to evaluate the effect.The composite particles were analyzed and characterized by Fourier transform infrared(FTIR),SEM and EDX.The results show that alkali resistance of aluminum powder was developed obviously after coating.AA leads to chemical adsorption between polymer and aluminum powder and enlarge the amount and intensity of adsorption.St attends copolymerization can develop the glossiness of flaky aluminum powder.The powder coated by TMPTMA/AA/St copolymer has the best alkali resistance.The feasible reaction condition is as follows:the weight fraction of the AA and St monomer are 0.6%and 1.3%respectively,the TMPTMA is 15%and the initiator is 1%,temperature is 80℃,reaction time is 4h and St and TMPTMA feed way is dropping into the reactor.In this way,the sample has best corrosion inhibition efficiency,the brightness is 83.4 and the coating efficiency is 23.4%.And coated aluminum powder in this reaction has better performance than the same style commercial product.
