Healing Lignans Hydroformylation Reaction

Synthetic methods of o-vanillin.The manufacture of vanillin and o-vanillin from formylation of guaiacol via Reimer-Tieman and Duff reactions was investigated in this paper. The effects of different reaction conditions on yield and ratio of isomers such as reaction time, reaction temperature and amounts of the reactants were described. Optimal reaction conditions were determined. A total yield of 79% of vanillin was obtained via Reimer-Tieman reaction, the ratio between o-vanillin and vanillin was about 0.27.
