Epoxy resins have been widely used as adhesives and matrixres in composites. With the development of high technology, higher and higher request is put forward to the epoxy resin. So the enormous efforts have been made to study epoxy resins.This thesis bases on synthesizing a novel bisphenol to change substitute base.and synthesizing a novel epoxy resine by this bisphenol.2,2-Bis(3-methyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propane named bisphnol-C was synthesized from o-creasol and acetone in the presence of HC1 as catalyst and thioglycolic acid as co-catalys.The influences of molar ratio of o-creasol to acetone, reaction temperature and time.amount of catalyst and co-catalyst dosage on the condensation reaction were studied by using orthogonal test design method. The yield of the bisphnol-C is up to 71.2 % under optimum reaction conditions: molar ratio o-creasol / acetone is at 6:1,the dosage of HCl catalyst is 35%, the dosage of co-catalyst is 0.1%,the reaction temperature is at 45℃, and reaction time is 6h.The purity checked by HPLC was 99.04% .The structure of bisphnol-C was characterized by FTIR and HNMR.Bsiphnol-C epoxy resine was synthesized by a two-step method, and was characterized by HNMR and FTIR.The epoxy value of this epoxy is 0.42. It is also found that catalyst dosage,reaction temperature,reaction time.NaOH dosage and concentration all effect the epoxy value of this epoxy through synthesizing.The viscosity of this epoxy is between that of the bsiphnol-A epoxy E-51 and epoxy E-44.This thesis adopted four kinds common curing agents of epoxy in curing reaction and studied on curing behavior.Results show that bisphenol-C epoxy resine/ Polyamide system has some significant advantages over common epoxy resins(E-51)/ Polyamide:low water absorption,higher shear strength, higher drawing strength, higher bending strength.
