Consisting of Rhizoma Coptidis and Evodia Fruit, Zuojin pill has being effecting in curing many diseases of splenico-gastric dysfunction, such as stomachache, abdominal pain, vomitus, singultus, diarrhea, coustipation, elysentery, acid regurgitation, belching, feeling of fullness in chest and so on. In order to adapting clinical demand, its form is now changed into dispersible tablet which disintegrates very quickly and drug in it will dissolve faster, meanwhile, the preparation process and the quality control have been studied completely and systematically.The study has been done on pre-clinical pharmacy including determining preparation route, selecting the extraction, purification, concentration and dry technology according to the contents of Berberine hydrochloride, Evodiamine, Rutaecarpine by the orthogonal design and the single factor test, controlling the quality of semi-finished products, completing its formunation which is a difficult procedure by the disintegrants and diluents, and assessing the quality of the product especiallly establishing the method of determining Berberine hydrochloride, Evodiamine and Rutaecarpine by HPLC and testing its dissolution and disintegration time limited.As a result, Zuojin dispersible tablet can disintegrate within 3 minute and the dissolution of Berberine hydrochloride is higher than 70% in duration of 15 minute tests. Besides, the quality of the product is well controlled by improving the preparatoin technique, controlling the qualities of the crude herbs and semi-finished products. Research result shows, the preparatoin technique, the formunation, the quality standard and the quality of the product have been improved comparing with them of Zuojin pill, the quality of it is stable, and the product accords with the need of this illness treatment.
