The fact that natural gas transmitted in pipeline usually contains some corrosive agents, like H2S, CO2 and water, would corrode the inside of the pipe and thin the wall, which cause huge lost to pipeline operators and hamper normal transportation operation. Therefore, it is very important to take effective measures against corrosion to guarantee the smooth operation and to expand pipeline service life.In order to protect pipeline from inner corrosion, Sichuan Oil Field took adding anti-corrosive agent as a major measure since 1972. It played a positive role against inner corrosion and explosion of the pipe. Over the thirty years, many different anti-corrosive agents have been adopted. As a result, the qualities of anti-corrosive agents were raised and the inserting technique was improved as well. In order to properly insert anti-corrosive agents and to reduce operation cost, concentration of anti-corrosive agents in natural gas needs examining, corrosion protection effect needs studying, proper inserting spot, quantity, cycle and protection distance needs choosing reasonably .Base on gas transmission operation, inserting concentration and protection distance of anti-corrosive agents were studied theoretically and experimentally. The pipeline between Fu-Liang Tanghe and East Valve Station have harnessed anti-corrosive agent for years. It showed slower corrosion.It justifies the correctness and applicability of the analysis of anti-corrosive agent in gas transmission line.
