| 1. Fabrication and Electrochemical Studies of Carbon Fiber-Disk NanoelectrodeA new and facile method has been described here for the fabrication of carbon fiber-disk nanoelectrodes (CFDNEs) with radii from several tens of nanometers to several micrometers. The carbon fiber of micrometer was first etched in the solution of NaOH (0.01mol/L), and then was insulated by deposition of electrophoretic paint. After that, the etched carbon fiber was heated to let the deposited film cure, and sealed with epoxy resin. Finally, the electrode was polished until the tip of the carbon fiber was exposed. Electrochemical investigation showed that this kind of electrodes had better electrochemical reversibility and less residual and charged currents than that of previous papers reported due to good insulation and active surface. The voltammetric response corresponding to the reduction of hexacyanoferrate (â…¢) on these nanoelectrodes was investigated in the absence and presence of supporting electrolyte. It was demonstrated that these nanoelectrodes were especially suitable for the systems with high impedance and no supporting electrolyte.2.
