The conducting polymers, no more than 30 years of history from discovery up to now, have become a new subject for its huge potential application. As one of the most thoroughly studied conducting polymers, polyaniline (PANI) has been received great attention due to the raw material easy gotten, low cost, special chemistry and electricity properties, high conductivity and environmental stabilities. We have mainly studied the conductivity of PANI by the preparation of the doped PANI and its composites.In this paper, aniline (An) was oxidized in acidic aqueous solutions for the synthesis of polyaniline. Oxidant including potassium bichromate (K2Cr2O7) and ammonium persulfate ((NH4)2S2O8) and the reaction systems including water-solution and emulsions were discussed. The results indicated that (NH4)2S2O8 was superior to K2Cr2O7 as oxidant and polyaniline prepared in emulsions had better conductivity, 8.9 S/cm, with smaller particle size which was less than 100nm. The effects of dopant on the solubility and conductivity of polyaniline were aslo investigated. Polyaniline was characterized by SEM,XPS and TGA, and the results indicated that when the mole rate of sodium dodecylbenzenesulfate (SDBS) to An was 0.9, the conductivity of polyaniline had the best point. There were two kinds existing SDBS (the doping SDBS and independent SDBS). The rate of NH+/N determined the conductivity of polyaniline.Formaldehyde and phosphite were used as oxidant by chemical reduction in solution in copper power preparation. XPS,SEM and XRD were used to characterize the samples."In-situ polymerization"and"combination of emulsion"were carried out to synthesize PANI/Cu composites. The conductivity was measured by changing the ratio of An/Cu weight, the result was that the conductivity of the composites could be regulated by changing the An/Cu weight ratio, and XPS and AFM were used to characterize the structure. We compared the conductivity of samples prepared by different methods.
