The analysis methods of impurities in monomer DMDAAC solution was studied in this paper. The kinds of impurities were confirmed by consulting literature, fundamental chemistry knowledge, and some previous experiment experience, and classified into the volatile impurities, in-volatile impurities that can be changed to volatile impurities and in-volatile impurities. The different analysis methods were adopted for the kinds of the impurities respectively. The result illustrated some volatile impurities, such as dimethyl amine, dimethylallylamine, allyl chloride, allyl alcohol and allyl aldehyde could be analyzed by gas chromatography directly, some in-volatile impurities that can be changed to volatile impurities, such as dimethylamine hydrochloride and dimethylallylamine hydrochloride that could be changed to correspond volatile amine could be analyzed by gas chromatography indirectly, and in-volatile impurities, such as metal ion, could be analyzed by use of atom absorb spectrum. Meanwhile, with the help of the methods, the manipulation and instrument precisions about processes were valuated, the recovery rate was valuated, and the method's reliability was fully valuated. Finally, based on the founded methods, the impurities in monomer DMDAAC solution from lab-made and scaled up-made were analyzed. All completed works have constructed an essential basement for optimizing monomer preparation, researching impurities' effect on polymerization of monomer, and partitioning monomer product's grades.
