A third dopant added into the ZrO2—Y2O3 seriers is a research focus of present Zirconia solid electrolyte study. The price of Magnesia is far below Yttria, so considering the electric properties and the cost, the ZrO2- Y2O3—MgO system has a stronger market competetion than the traditional Yttria stabled Zirconia system. And the ZrO2-Y2O3—MgO system is a potential new system. This paper focuses on the study of oxygenic concentration difference cell sensors. The mixture of ZrO2-Y2O3- MgO powders , preparation of wax thick liquid, the preparation of moulding, sintering process, preparation of electrode, electric properties of the production, hot resistance properties have been carefully studied.According to the conductivity measurement, output voltage of samples increased as temperature increased, but the changes were nonlinear. With the temperature increases, the activating energy of oxygen ion reduces and the probabilities of transition increase, so that the conductivity progressively increases. The inward vacancies also join in the transition of oxygen ion to made conductivity increase.The conductivity of ZrO2 sensitive material is related to content and chemical component of dopants. The conductivity reaches a maximum value as the content of dopant increases, but different dopants correspond to different maximum. For MY series, conductivity reaches a maximum volume with 3mol%Y2O3 and 5mol% MgO.The microstructure was studied by XRD, SEM and EPM. the result indicates that the sintering is relatively satisfactory. From the image of SEM ,it can be found that the particles are homogeneous with partial grains grow up by adding the second stabilitier. The EPM microstructures show that the mixture of Magnesia and Yttria is quite homogeneous.Thermal shock resistance test shows that the thermal shock resistance of MY series reached a maximum volume with the content of Magnesia at about 5 mol %.For MY series, with the content of Magnesia increasing, the content of pore increases and the density of the sample decreases.
