With the development of the society and technology, the demand for high quality steel should be met. Many process and equipments to produce clean steel have been developed. Ladle Furnace (LF) is one of the most important refining equipments. LF has functions of deeply desulphurization, deoxidization, removal of inclusion in liquid steel, and cleaning steel, control of the shape of the inclusions. In addition, and can protect liquid steel from reoxidization, heat up liquid steel. It plays an important role in the production of clean steel.Refining slag is the key in the production of LF CaO-SiO2-Al2O3-MgO-CaF2 and CaO-Al2O3 are the usual refining. The main research in this paper is to prepare a new type of refining basic slag with the suitable melting point and melting speed using waste slag as material.With addition of the LF slag into the refining slag, the slag' s melting property and desulphurizing effect have improved a lot ,and the cost of refining slag has also reduced.The results of X-diffraction test show that it concluded 12CaO· 7Al2O3 calcium aluminates in the material of the mix of high aluminate material and calcium aluminates slag.The practical experiments results show that the sintered refining slag could not only improve the speed of forming slag, burying arc, but increase desulphurizing ratio of melt steel, reduce the refining circle. By the comparison experiment, it was found that the average refining time was shorted 20.7min, desulphurization ratio of liquid steel and total desulpurization ratio of liquid steel increased 7%and 27.7%.The paper also introduces the process to make refining slag using waste slag as material in a industrial scale.
