Recovery copper and molybdenum from low grade molybdenum slag has been studied, and a new NaOH digestion and liquid-liquid extraction process has been developed. In the stage of NaOH digestion, the infleunce of NaOH consumption and temperature on the recovery of Molybdenum has been studied .At 90℃ , and the NaOH comsuption of stiochiometric amount, more than 98% of the Molybdenum can be leached and more than 99% of the copper remained in the residue. In the stage of liquid-liquid extraction, the extraction rate of molybdenum up to 99% can be reached with the extractant N235. At the same time, the infleunce of ammonia concentration and strip time on the strip rate has also been studied. With ammonia concentration of 1:2,strip time 20 minutes,a strip rate of 98% has been obtained. It is indicated that the NaOH digestion and liquid-liquid extraction process is feasible, and the recovery of copper and molybdenum are more than 99% and 95.6% respectively. This process will make positive contribution to searching the way for recycling molybdenum from waste material and ensuring the continually development of Chinese molybdenum metallurgical industry.
