Cobalt oxide powders have extensive application in the field of catalysis, magnetic material and electro-chemistry. But more and more the traditional process can not meet the demands of their grain size and morphology in market. In this paper, it has been mainly discussed the electrosynthetical process in water solution and ethanol system to prepare Co(OH)2 precursor, then get Co3O4 powders with ultrafine even size mono- morphology high quality through drying and calcining.Cobalt hydroxide (α-Co(OH)2) precursor was prepared through directly electrolyzing in LiCl-bearing electrolyte solution, then drying and calcining α-Co(OH)2 at high temperature for a few hours, Co3O4 nanometer powder with cube crystalline finally was attained. In this experimentation, the optimum conditions were chose as the electric current of 400A/m2;temperature of 30-40℃;polar distance of 3cm;the concentration of LiCl being 1.0mol/L;pH value being 8-10;calcinations temperature of 200 ℃. The products prepared in the optimum conditions have the best grain size and morphology.Precursor Co(OEt)2(acac)2 was prepared through directly electrolyzing in absolute ethanol and acetylacetone mixed solution in the presence of Bu4NBr(as an electron-conductive additive). Thendirectly hydrolyzing precursor Co(OEt)2(acac)2 to get Co(OH)2, finally drying and calcining Co(OH)2 at different temperature for a few hours, CO3O4 powders with sphericity crystalline were attained. In this experimentation, the optimum conditions were chose as temperature of 30-40°C;concentration of organic amine electric salt being 0.020.025molL"1;electrolyzing at 40-50°C for 6h;Calcining at 300 °C. The products prepared at the optimum conditions have the 78nm of grain size and sphericity mono-morphology. The reaction mechanics was also discussed in this paper.
