According to the different contents of the ores, there are two mainly zinc oresnamely zinc sulfide and oxidized ores. Due to the depletion of zinc sulfide ores.people pay more and more attention to study the processing of zinc oxide ores. Theflotation separations of zinc oxide minerals from calcium, magnesium andiron-bearing etc. gangue minerals at ambient temperature have troubled manyspecialists. The surface conversion and competitive action caused by the interactionbetween dissolved minerals species and mineral surface results in rather difficultflotation separations of zinc oxide ores from calcium, magnesium and iron-bearing etc.gangue minerals such as calcite, dolomite and limonite etc.. At present, thesulphidizing flotation method is usually used for the flotation of lead and zincoxidized ores. The sulphidizing-xanthate flotation is mainly used for the flotation oflead oxide minerals but the hot sulphidizing, copper-sulfate-activating and xanthateflotation method or sulphidizing-amine (primary amine) are usually used for therecovery of zinc oxide minerals. Due to the sulphidizing amine flotation of zinc oxideminerals being sensitive to the slimes and soluble salts, the problems of lowseparation indexes, complicated flotation circuit and reagent types, high consumptionand cost are still not solved in spite of lots of research and practice on the flotation ofzinc oxide ores. So, it is very valuable to make the process of flotation more economicand effective with a flotation procedure as simple as possible and ordinary reagents.The first sample is one deeply oxidized lead and zinc ores from Yunnan province. Through extensive experiments, the dosage of reagents and the flow chart of flotation technique were determined. Zinc concentration with zinc grade 30% and recovery 65% can be obtained using xanthate and amine as corresponding collectors of lead and zinc with open circuit and selective flotation flowsheet.The second sample is zinc oxide minerals from Yunnan province. Willmite and hemimorphite are the primary ores. The results of flotation treatment on this samplewere very bad probably because of high concentration of slimes and silica (33.27% SiO2). Then flotation method was replaced by sulfuric acid leaching. The influence of parameters such as H?SOd concentration, leaching time and strengthening leaching agent, has been studied. It was found that 78% zinc extraction was obtained at room temperature and atmosphere pressure.The cost of flotation and leaching of the two minerals was assessed respectively and to be economic feasibility. And, we also discussed the mechanisms of flotation and leaching of the tow zinc oxide ores. All this work in this paper provides valuable reference for the next research and practice.
