In order to investigate feasibility of producing qualified "double high" cigarette paper (high porosity and high tensile strength) while add certain quantity of flax pulp during the cigarette paper making. High Tensile strength is in order to avoid broke when cigarettes making, to meet the needs of high-speed cigarette machine. High porosity is in order to dilute the smoke concentration through the air that infiltrate the rear of the cigarette, to reduce the tar, Nicotine and CO content of the cigarettes, so as to reduce the harm to the body of cigarettes. During the investigation, also analyzed the Chalk, additive and etc that also affect the quality of the cigarette paper. The results indicated that it is feasible to make high-grade cigarette paper when use the flax pulps as long as control the techniques reasonably.1. The proportioning of all kinds of the fiber materials will have great effect on the production of quality "double high" cigarette paper. From the above we can see the proportioning of the flax pulp be 30-40% is better, as to the proportioning of the softwood and hardwood pulp should according to the cigarette paper's porosity of actual production.2. Meanwhile should pay attention to the beating degree of the all kinds of the fiber materials, under the normal condition, the beating degree of the softwood pulp should be about 70SR⁰, while the hardwood should be about 30SR0, then the stability of the tensile strength, opacity and porosity of the cigarette paper can be the best level.3. During the production of the cigarette paper, should add certain quantity of CaCO₃, it can improve the whiteness and opacity, but will have bad effect to the tensile strength, so should control usage of the CaCO₃, in the meantime should meet the demand of the National Standard, the quantity of the CaCO₃ normally controls at about 30-40%, meanwhile can add small quantity of TiO₂, so as to improve the opacity.4. As for the improvement of the quality of the cigarette paper, meanwhile think of the use factor of the raw material, during the production can add some quantity of non-ion GUAR Gun to strengthen, normally at 0.3-0.7%, and add some quantity of cationoid GUAR Gun to help maintain and filter, normally at 0.3-0.8%.The results indicated that it is feasible to make high-grade cigarette paper when use the flax pulp as long as control the techniques reasonably, and careful consideration to choose best and reasonable usage and beating degree of flax pulp.
