The electric field was introduced in a system of bio-treatment in order to improve its ability of removing phosphorus, which was the base of developing a new kind of technology for wastewater treatment in the paper.Considering that anaerobic phosphorus release and aerobic phosphorus uptake were the basic process of enhanced biological phosphorus removal(EBPR), the electric field was introduced firstly in two different periods of reaction in order to study its impacts on biological phosphorus removal. The results obtained demonstrated that in both reaction period, the electric field contributed to the efficiency and stability of dephosphorization. The contrasting investigation showed that at the same current density, aggrandizement of electric field in aerobic period could obtain better results, and under the optimal condition( i=0.08mA/cm~2), the average removal ratio of total phosphorus was 92%, 15% higher than that of ordinary bio-reactor. The results also showed that phosphorus content of dry sludge in enhancing reactor by electric field, was 5.04%, 0.68% higher than that of ordinary bio-reactor, which indicated further that the electric field could enhance its ability of dephosphorization.According to the mechanism of biological dephosphorization, the efficiency of removing phosphorus related to content and removal of organic substance. This paper also investigated the enhanced removing regularity of organic substances, the results showed that electric field had different impacts on organic substances removal from on phosphorus removal. From reaction period, aggrandizement of electric field in anaerobic period had a positive effect on organic substances removal, and that of aerobic period was little; from ultimate effects, the electric field made less contribution to organic substances removal than that of total phosphorus.Furthermore, the technology of denitrifying dephosphorization was investigated, the results indicated that Denitrifying Poly-phosphate Accumulating Organisms...
