In order to meet the requirements of DEZHOU FUDA Commercial Company processing copper fin, the author has compared the processing characteristics the materials of aluminum and copper. Consulting some domestic research theories about the key technical problems of progressive die, the author has designed the mould for a special purpose. The progressive fin die is a kind of complicated and precise forming die. It possesses many advantages such as high efficiency, accuracy and long life. The progressive die relates to many key technologies including metal forming theory, sheet steel forming process, die design and manufacture, die material and so on. Beginning with forming theory, the deformation specialties of drawing, cutting, hole-flanging and bending processes in progressive die; many theories are discussed such as dynamical properties, characteristics and analysis methods of plastic deformation and forming limit, and their influencing factors are discussed from the view point of die structure. These efforts provide theory basis for the design and parameter calculation of progressive die.On the basis of discussing metal forming theory and the analysis of deformation specialties for four forming processes, the project idea that adopts sub-die schism structure to design die is proposed. By particular design and calculation, the whole structure of progressive die for fin is established. The design part includes the collectivity design, structure design and the design of assistant framework for delivering sheet metal. The calculation part includes main structure parameters of die and punch, and pressing center calculation. At the same time, experiments of processing certain amounts of copper sheets have been made with the die designed, and the results prove that the die designed is reasonable and feasible.
