The adsorption of rare ions on carboxymethyl chitosan and regenerated resin of cross-link carboxymethyl chitosan was investigated systematically.To carboxymethyl chitosan the effect of PH ,concentration ,ionic strength, subsititution degree of carboxymethyl group and time on the adsorption capacity was studied ,and the adsorption kinetics curve was described . The result showed that the adsorption capacity of carboxymethyl chitosan increased with the increase in its carboxyl groups.The adsorption isotherm of carboxymethyl chitosan for rare ions at 20℃ was fitted good for the Langmuir equation. Using carboxymethyl chitosan as raw material ,glutraraldehyde as cross-link agent ,regenerated resin of carboxymethyl chitosan was prepared by the reaction of –CHO with –NH2.The effects of various factors such as reaction time ,ionic strength ,PH value and concentration on the adsorption behavior for La3+,Nd3+,Sm3+,Lu3+ on the resin of carboxymethyl chitosan were investigated. It was found that the adsorption capacity of La3+,Nd3+,Sm3+,Lu3+ ion on resin was very good. The highest rate of adsorption reached 95% .The resin of carboxymethyl chitosan can be used for five times with high adsorption capacity. Its adsorption behavior was coincided with the equation of Langmuir or Freudlich.
