| At the present, clay green sand casting is still a popular method in the foundry. The compactability is the first choice in the foundry for testing in order to control the sand performance. In this paper, a new type of mobile instrument is developed, which is able to test the sand compactability quickly and accurately. The method of impact experimentation for compactability, which used in the laboratory, having been analyzed, a conclusion can be drawn, that is, the sand compactability is defined as the distortion produced by a definite pressure in the sands with definite original density and shape. Based on the principle, the instrument can be developed with the lowest research cost, the test precision being ensured and characteristics such as mobility, well handling and testing quickly, being emphasized. The configuration of the tester is first designed. The piezoelectricity ceramic is employed as the core material of the pressure sensor to measure pressure. By analyzing the mechanism of mechanical mouse, a photoelectricity displacement sensor is developed by this paper. Because the two sensors are self-made, the cost of the instrument is reduced to the lowest.MSP430 is a type of microcontroller especially emphasized on Ultra-Low power, which is satisfied with the situation of battery power supply in the mobile instrument. It is testified by experimentation that the precision of the instrument designed by this paper is about 3%~5%, which is satisfied with the requirement in the foundry. |
