Turmeric is the rhizome of Curcuma longa L. Warm, bitter, enters the channels of spleen and liver. It has effects of promoting blood circulation and flow of Qi, regulating menstruation to stop pain. Its main ingredients curcuminoids have the effects of anti-virus, anti-inflame, anti-cancer and anti-oxidation. This article compared several kinds of extractive methods by the purity of curcuminoids and their transferring rate with spectrophotometry and ascertained the optimum preparation process.1 Sodium salicylate method: the pulverized turmeric was extracted with Sodium salicylate solution, The solution was filtered and then diluted with water, The precipitation was dried and dissolved with ethanol and then filtered, The filtrate was concentrated and dried to prepare the curcuminoids products. The different turmeric crude drugs and different methods of collecting precipitation were compared in the experiments. The purity of the best products was 93.2%, but the transferring rate of curcuminoids was lower than 10%.2 Alkaline method: The method of extracting turmeric with alkaline water and the method of extracting turmeric with ethanol then purifying with alkaline water were used in the experiments to prepare curcuminoids. The purity of the best products was 74.0%, but the transferring rate of curcuminoids was lower than 8%3 Activated charcoal method: the pulverized turmeric was extracted with ethanol. The solution was filtered and then purified with activated charcoal. But the curcuminoids could not be eluted from activated charcoal.4 Macroreticular resin method: the pulverized turmeric was extracted with ethanol. The solution was filtered and then purified with Macroreticular resin to prepare the curcuminoids products. The type of adsorbent and the adsorption condition were selected through the experiments and the optimum sample volume was ascertained by the breakthrough curve. The optimum elution condition was ascertained by elution curve and orthogohal test. The 55% ethanol the 0.5% assisted regent and the flowing speed of 1/30 BV/min were the optimum adsorption condition. 16.21mg/ml is the best adsorption volume. The 70% ethanol 7BV and the flowing speed of 1/15 BV/min were the optimum elution condition. In a word, Macroreticular resin method is better than other three. The purity of the products was more than 65% and the total transferring rate was not lower than 60%.
