Low-pressure casting (LPC) is a kind of high efficient, low cost and net shape manufacturing process. It can be utilized to reduce the allowance of casting, and can help to realize the casting of precision, thin wall and power saving. As a new process of special casting, LPC plays a more and more important role in foundry. However, the traditional design of the low pressure casting process has low design efficient, complex process and much work. The technique of LPC has been seriously held back in its applications. In allusion to these problems, based on the characteristics of LPC, a system of CAD of aluminum alloy LPC is studied.After carrying out survey work and obtaining the rich materials, the author assays the actuality of LPC and CAD technique, expounds the actuality and trend about Casting Process CAD, and points out the CAD of the LPC process that is pending and necessary. According to the actual flow of LPC process design, the author selects Windows 2000 as system platform, AutoCAD as supporting software, and has developed a utilitarian CAD system for aluminum alloy LPC process by Visual C++ and Object ARX.Based on the theory of LPC, the author ascertains the parameters of the gating process, and develops the regulation of pressure programmer and curve for LPC. The curve of the regulation of pressure can be portrayed rapidly and easily. And the author researches the design of the lift tube.The author develops the gating system module, casting processing drawing and card. In the processing drawing part, some key techniques such as dynamic drag-drop drawing, parametric drawing and dimension-drive drawing are adopted. It can easily portray the gating system.Finally, It is proved that the system is correct and utilitarian through the sample.
