Associated Alkaline Mother Liquor Fiber Ball Filter Characteristics And Application

The actuality and recent development of mother liquid filtration in Hou's process were discussed and summarized. It is the first time at home to research the function of mother liquid filtration by fibre-ball filter via experimental method. It has a great lot of treatment capacity by fibre-ball filter, good quality of yielding water, long period of operation, and avoiding cramming. So it plays an important role in technological innovation of Hou's process.The effect for mother liquid filtration by fibre-ball filter specification and velocity of filtration, and conditions for revival purification of filter were researched deeply at this article. As a result, the filtration 6 DAN fiber is better than 4 DAN and 9 DAN; under the filtration conditions of 10~30m/h, fibre-ball filter operates normally, the velocity of filtration effects greatly upon capacity of cut-off sludge by filter and operation period. The quicker of velocity of filtration, and the smaller of capacity of cut-off sludge by filter, and the shorter of operation period. Filtration resistance of filter increases along with the increase of time and velocity of filtration; fibre-ball filter will come back to normal operation by revival purification for 4~15min under the conditions of 30-60 l/m2-s of intensity of backwash air and 10~20 l/m2-s of intensity of water. The best conditions of revival purification are: 45 l/m2-s of intensity of backwash air and 10-15 l/m2-s of intensity of water. There is 10-20% of residual sludge inside fibre-ball after revival purification, but it won't affect next period of operation.For application of engineering, the comparison between fibre-ball filter of 200 m3/h and Spalding settling tank shows that the floor space and investment is smaller, the cost of operation is lower by adopting fibre-ball filter for filtration of mother liquid in Hou's process. So, adopting fibre-ball filter for mother liquid will become an important innovation in the technology of Hou's process. This technology will be rapidly and widely used in soda manufacturing industry if the problem of long period and steady operation is resolved.
