This paper researches deeply the synthesis and application of such polymer flocculant as PAM-DMDAAC, PAM and its derviants which are widely used in the treatment of wastewater in petroleum industry.It is studied in the laborary that how the reaction conditions influence the intrinsic viscosity and cationization degree of the PAM-DMDAAC. Taking K2S2O8-NaHSO3 as the initiator, and its concentration 0.1 ~ 0.4%(Mi/Mm), and the temperature 40 ℃ , concentration of monoler 30%(m/V), mole proportion (AM/DMDAAC) 2:1~2:3, PH value 4~5, nitrogen gas protection, agitating moderately, and reacting for 8 hours, the polymer PAM-DMDAAC with intrinsic viscosity range approximately from 130.2~226.7 ml/g, and CD range from 6.5~ 30.3% are prepared in the laboratory.Through Mannich-Reaction, the PAM is cationized and the JIS method is applied to measure the CD of the CPAM. The dependency of hydrolization degree to the reacton conditions is researched and the method of hydrochloric acid neutralization titration is used to determine the HD of the PHP. Furthermore, the amphoteric PAM(APAM) is prepared through cationization of the PHP, and both its CD and HD is determined. In order to characterize all the products prepared above, the Infrared Absorption Spectroscopy is utilized.The prepared products are evaluated by beaker flocculating and settling test through dealing with bentonitic clay floating liquid and drilling wastewater blended in the laboratory. The spectrophotometer is used to measure the penetrability of the upper processed water at the wavelength of 400 nm. On the basis of the water quality, the influence on flocculating effect of the macro-molecular chain structure and its form,the flocculating mechanism of these products are discussed and analyzed detailedly.The author also hope this paper can provide some reference to the macro-molecular design and practical application.
