Resveratrol (3, 4 ,5-trihydroxystilbene) is a phytoalexin which is present in a number of plant species, but it has evoked the widest interest as a constituent of grape berries and other components of the Vitacese. These studies were followed by investigations of its biological activity, which suggested that it might have properties conducive to protection against cancer, atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, tumour, inflamming etc. Previous research has proved that the synthesized resveratrol through chemical method has the same physiological action with that from the nature.Resveratrol was synthesized by the present process: 3, 5-dihydroxytoluene and 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde react with acetic oxide to produce (II) and (V) respectively; (III) was prepared by the reaction of (II) and NBS; Bromated (III) react with triphenylphonium to produce (IV); Via "Wittig reaction", 3, 4' ,5-triacetylstilbene was prepared from (IV) and (V); After deacylation, resveratrol was obtained. We simplify the process and shorten the reaction time by using new catalyst and solvent, as the result the total yield is much higher.
