ln this paper, the eIeCtrochemical behaviors of suIfide minerals In flotation systemwas studied, and relationship betWeen pot6ntiaI and floatabiIity of suIphide mineraI wasdiscussed. Based on the electrochemical charaCteristics of sulfide mineral flotation systemand the eIectrochemical theory of suIfide flotation, the mechanism of suIfide pot6ntiaI controlfIotation and us praCtical application was studied with pulp potential (Eh)' pH vaIue andconcentration of collector (C) as the primary paramet6rs.Through thermodynamic calculation and flotation tests on the mineraIs of gaIena.sphalerite. pyrite, their Eh--pH equilibrium in the absence or presence of xanthate wasset up. It thus can be estimated the range of Eh. pH and C for suIfide mineral flotation andthe possibiIity for separation.Systematic eIeCtrochemicaI anaIysis, which ranges from CycIic VoItammeter, Pot8ntialstatic, Galvan static, TafeI PIots to Linear Polarization and Galvanic Corrosion, was carriedon galena and pyrite eleCtrode. Using the e1ectrochemicaI kinetics parameter, theoxidation rate was defined. Electrochemical measurement resuIts show that, the speed OfcoIlector reaCtive on mineraI surface were different, their stability was affected by kineticbehavior of e1ectro--chemicaI reduCtion. ln addition, the galvanic InteraCtion of differenteIectrode coupfes were studied by GaIvanic Corrosion technique. The micro--mechanismof pot6ntiaI controI fIotation of suIfide mineral was discussed.At last, a new reasonable fIow sheet was brought up and was used in industrypractice. The resuIt shows that this technique is more efficiency than the oId one. It saves27% equipment at the same industry index.
