Triazine UV absorber was synthesized granted by the Shanxi provincial science and technology fund of youth, which has excellent effect in protection of polymer against UV. The main raw materials are resorcinol, m-xylene, cyanuryl chloride and octyl bromide. The main reaction of the systemization was Friedel-Craft reaction, where the catalyst was aluminum trichloride.It was investigated the preparation of 2,4-bis (2,4-dimethylphenyl)-6-chloro-s-triazine in m-xylene in presence of Aids and the influence of temperature, time, ratio on the reaction. When the temperature was 50癈, the yield was the greatest which could reach 90%. The content of the product was determined by LC and the structure of the product was characterized by determining melting point and IR. The relation between the selectivity of product and the condition of reaction was also discussed.It was discussed the reaction of 2,4-bis (2,4-dimethylphenyl)-6-chloro-s-triazine and resorcinol in chlorophenyl and the influence of solvent, ratio and time on the reaction. The yield of 2,4-bis (2,4-dimethylphenyl)-6-(2,4-dihydroxy -phenyl)-s-triazine was 92.4%, and the structure was determined by IR.It was studied the reaction of 2,4-bis (2,4-dimethylphenyl)-6-(2,4-dihydroxy -phenyl)-s-triazine and octyl bromide in DMF and the influence of solvent, ratio and time on the reaction. The yield of SQ-425 was 73%, and the structure was determined by IR and LC-MS.It was discussed the similarities and differences of the strypped-down product and the import product. By means of the comparatives of two sorts of product, both are basically the same. It was also discussed the advantage of SQ-425 as UV-absorber.
