In recent years, textile printing and dyeing industry have greatly developed since the dyes become more and more important to people's lives and the printing and dyeing industry plays an important role in the development of national economy. Characterized by complex components, deep color, lots of undegradble matter, dye wastewater is difficult to be effectively treated. It's important and impending to find a effective and clear way. Nowadays, there are few reports on the technology degrading the pollutant by wicrowave irradiation. It has not been reported about the use of technology in the treatment of sequential dye wastewater so far. The research is very advanced. The dissertation introduced the research progress in the field of dye wastewater treatment and summarized the research on treatment the environmental pollutant by wicrowave irradiation. Research was performed on treating acid orange II by microwave irradiation in the presence of granular active carbon .At first , the effect of decomposing acid orange II by microwave irradiation was studied. The decolorization of acid orange II was above 95.6% in the presence of microwave irradiation when outlet was 10 litre, and comparatively the decolorization was only 37.5% without microwave irradiation. The decolorization of acid orange II was determinated after the granular active carbon was saturated , we found the decolorization was distinct. This indicated microwave irradiation had the main decoloring effect. The effectiveness factors were investigated, the main ones of which were retention time, radiant intensities of microwave, concentration. Under the optimum condition, decolorization of above 95% was observed , corresponding to removal efficiency of CODcr of 92% and elimination capacity of 6.67g Acid Orange II /h-kg catalyst. The reaction was first order kinetics. Kinetics equation : lnc=-2.3 X 10"3t+ 5.5345, R = 0.971, rate constant: k=2.3 X 10'Y1, half-life period:ti/2=3.01 X 102s. The mechanism's presumed: organic molecule was transfered to the surface of catalysts first, then molecule was decomposed by microwave irradiation. Passing rate and decomposition rate made an equilibrium. Finally, regeneration way was investigated .The result was found Method I was better. The regenerated granular active carbon was similar tofresh one with respect to surface area, iodine number and decolorizationcapability.
