It is well-known that high strength aluminum alloy has been widely used in many fields such as the aerospace industry and civilian facilities because of its characters of low density, high strength, excellent plastic forming. With the development of aerospace and aeronautics, the requirements to high strength aluminum alloy are becoming more and more .In this article, the properties such as, KIC and microstructure of 7B04 are studied. By means of tension test, TEM and SEM analysis etc., the influences of heat treatment including solid solution and ageing on properties and microstriu ture of 7B04 and the fracture mechanism have been investigated systematically.Results of the investigation show that:I.It can improve the combination of the properties of 7B04 to prolong the solid solving time. Especially, it is very clear to improve the property of fracture toughness.2.The heat treatment to get excellent properties is solid solving for 400 minutes at 470 and ageing for 16 hours at 130.Besides, the effect of different deformation on KIC of 7B04 is greater than that on with the same alloying contents and the same heat treatment.3.On the basis of data get from experiment, an experimental equation is introduced.
