A kinetics evaluation method of solution polymerization aiming at inhibitor's property has been established. The solvent, the concentration of the monomer and the inhibitors, the temperature and the time and the equipment of the reaction are studied. The analytic methods are also studied: the concentration of styrene monomer is analyzed by gas chromatography, and the molecular weight of polystyrene is analyzed by viscosimetry. Comparing with that in mass polymerization, the resolving power has been greatly improved in solution polymerization.Four near infrared spectroscopy (NIR) analytical models for determining the styrene content and the molecular weight of polystyrene in the course of the evaluation are established. The results of "t" test indicate that there are no evident difference between the results determined by NIR method and that analyzed by gas chromatography and viscosimetry.The evaluation result of the commercial inhibitors obtained by the new evaluation method is identical to the polymerization inhibition effect that has been testified by practical use.
