AbstractSaltwater intrusion in southern coastal areas of Laizhou Bay, as one of theserious disasters to the agricultural and industrial production, has deeplyaffected the sustainable development of regional economy and society.According to the basic theories of Restoration Ecology, the characteristics ofecological environment in this region are analyzed. How to realize thesustainable development of ecological environment of the region is alsodiscussed exhaustively in this paper. The major content is as follows:The partition of ecological environment district is the basis of the study onecological restoration and ecological reconstruction. Considered the actualitiesof this region, 6 indexes are chosen to form the index system. They are theGroundwater Burial Depth, the Groundwater Mineralization, the Soil Saltcontent, the Gem, the Acreage Ratio of Cereal Crops to Cash Crops and theGross Domestic Product (GOP) Per Capita. According to the basic mathematicstheory of Quantity Partitioning Science, a geographical mathematics model(0MM) is set up. By the use of this GMM and cluster analysis, the saltwaterintruded area of the southern coast of Laizhou Bay is divided into 3 subregions.There are the North Subregion of Guangrao, the North Subregion of Shouguangand the North Subregion of Hanting and Changyi from west to east.Macroscopically, from looking upon the study area as a part of the wholeprovince and the whole state, the regional industrial structure and distribution ofthe region are advised to adjust. Measures can be taken to optimize theeconomic structure and distribution. In order to alleviate the supply-demandcontradiction of water resources and promote the regional sustainable[[I *~駘it:~development, state policy and price system should be brought into play.The key engineering projects and technologies, which are theindispensable microscopic control methods, mainly include water conservancyproject, ameliorative engineering and biological engineering.According to the unique characteristics of every subregion, basing on theenvironmental adjustment and its key technology, the ways of ecologicalrestoration and ecological reconstruction are advanced respectively, which canbe used to do further research work by the local government and the otherdepartments.
