| Yttrium orthovanadate(YVO4) is a strongly brifringent uniaxial crystal. YVO4 isvery attractive for use as a phosphor, polarizer or laser host material. As a singlecrystal it has excellent mechanical properties, a good chemically stability and has ahigh laser induced damage threshold. With various rare earth dapants , it hasproven to an efficient low threshold laser crystalIn this paper,the materials synthesis of Yb:YVO4 with the way of liquidphase, solid phase and hydrolysed colloid reaction are presented ,and the rawmaterials of synthesis with these way were detected with infrared absorptionspectrum ,differential thermal analysis and X-ray diffraction method .Theexperiments show the raw materials of liquid phase reaction could meet thedemand of crystal growth. The Yb:YVO4 crystal with various dopedconcentration was grown by Czochraskl method. The growth conditionatmosphere and annealing technology were investigated. Absorptionspectrum ,fluorescence spectrum and fluorescence life of the polished Yb:YVO4crystal have been measured .The optical parameters by calculating show Yb:YVO4crystal is a promisefi.il laser crystal with LD pumping. After the defects study, theresult was found that the main defect in Yb:YVO4 crystal is inclusions. |
