In this paper, Poly(p-phenylene sulfide)(PPS) hollowfibers were produced with ring spinneret by the method ofmelting spinning in our self-made ram spinning machine. Then, the microporous membranes were formed by multipledrawing and heat-treating. We mainly discussed thefollowing expects: firstly, the effects of the spinningtemperature, rate of extrusion, N2 flux, cooling conditionsand winding speed etc. process conditions on hollowprotofibril were discussed. Secondly, we explained thedrawing and pore-formed process. Of these, the processparameters such as drawing ratio, drawing temperature andheat-treating conditions were discussed and we exp1ainedthe relationship between supermolecular structures andmechanical properties. Thirdly, we tested the pore size, water f1ux and porosity of PPS microporous hol1ow fibermembranes. For measurement method, we used the differentialscanning calorimeter (DSC), scanning e1ectron microscope(SEM), wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD), SSY-1 soundvelocity instrument, mono-yarn strength Tester etc. andanalyzed the structure and properties of hollow fibers. Theresults indicated that PPS may be regarded as themembranes raw stuff and the microporous membranes maybe produced by melting-spinning, drawing and heat-treatedprocess. And by annealing, the protofibril may havecomplete lame1lar crystal. Then the pore size may becontrolled by changing the drawing ratio and drawingtemperature.
