With the development of industrial, there are more and more tailings dam and the dams’body is higher and higher, tailings major accidents occurred in our country frequently, tailings dam incident not only caused casualties, but also caused huge economic losses, have a serious impact on society. Therefore, tailings safety issues is important, tailings risk analysis are of great significance.Firstly, through the tailings hazardous factors identification and analysis, the characteristics of the tailings dam accident were studied. Then use the fault tree analysis method to study the tailings dam accident, analyze causation between all kinds of basic events and tailings dam failure accidents, the fault tree model of the tailings dam was established, according to the tailings dam accident tree graph, use the method of Boolean algebra operations, the fault tree’s minimum cut set and minimal path set were calculated. From the aspects of engineering technology and safety management, improving the stability of the dam body technical measures and management measures were researched. Finally, in Hunchun Zijin mining, Shuguang gold copper mine waste rock new tailings comprehensive utilization project as an example, the law of the mine tailings deposition and physical and mechanical properties of ore were studied, use finite element method to calculate the tailings dam tridimensional seepage under various operating conditions, analyze and judge saturation line position in having, having no the field the row facilities, and calculate radius of influence of the field the row facilities and the field the row tube spacing.This research is of great significance to improve the tailings essential safety state and the safety management level, reduce and control the dangerous and harmful factors in tailings dam operation, reduce the tailings dam production risk, prevent the accident and protect the life property, the enterprise and the downstream residents.
