Gear has the advantages of precise transmission of motion, smooth transmission of load and long working life in the process of transmission, it is widely used in many industrial equipment, and is one important part in mechanical industry, so improving the manufacturing accuracy is critical. In the machining and manufacturing molding process of gear, the related measuring instrument is provided necessarily to measure the parameters of gear and to ensure that all the parameters of gear meet the technical requirements. With the continuous development of the laser measuring technique, the combining of the laser with the coordinate measuring technology was adopted in this paper to research a new type of measuring instrument which can satisfy the modern measuring demands of gear parameters.Mainly, the structure of the laser measurement system for gear parameters was designed. Used the method of D-H to analyze the kinematics modeling of mechanical structures and the running reliability and stability of structures were ensured. The error analysis of the measuring system structure was done. The linear motion mechanism error compensation model for this system was set up, and an adjusting mechanism which goes through the center of the ring was designed to improve the measuring precision of the system.
