Separation process of lanthanide and actinide is playing an essential role both in scientific research and practical application. About scientific research, it is a challenge to separation methods; to practical application, separation of lanthanide and actinide is the key step of transmutation. It has been realized that ionic liquids show features that cannot be realized in conventional molecular solvents. The widely tuneable class of ionic liquids has become important for lanthanide and actinide coordination chemistry, f-element spectroscopy, f-element electrochemistry and electrodeposition. Because of these unique properties of ionic liquids, it is the sole choice in this research to act as the diluent for C2-BTP, the influent factors of distribution ratio, time, acid concentration, salt concentration, extractant concentration and temperature, are probed during separation of Am and Eu using C2-BTP. It indicate that high viscosity of organic phase always result in long equilibrium time; acid concentration have significant influence for extraction selectivity. Partial experimental phenomena are explained by molecular dynamic calculation, and the conformation of C2-BTP in ionic liquid is also studied by molecular dynamic calculation, it is found that the distance and interaction of the three coordination nitrogen-atom in C2-BTP will be differ from one ionic liquid to another.
