In our daily life and social producing, rolled products are wildly applied. Now the social requirement of the rolled products, productions and quality is improving. Cold and hot rolling mill continuously to develop in the direction of high speed, large scale, high precision. It also puts forward higher requirements on the performance of working roll. In order to improve the practical performance of the forged steel roll, two methods can be done. One is to improve the process of smelting and forging, the other is to optimize heat treatment methods. The final heat-treatment determines the practical performance of working roll and it is the most important process. But because of the excess stress spalling, fatigue crack and even fracture often hapens to the working roll when we are using or manufacturing them. This cause great damage to many enterprises. Therefore, it has a great significance to research the process of the forged steel work roll final heat treatment.Considering the lack of the relevance parameters, especially the parameters of thermal, we firstly researched them through a large number of basic experiments. We obtained the CCT curve and TTT curve of the Cr8 forged steel. We used the DSC to measure the heat capacity of the blank at different temperatures. And we got the expansion coefficient through the thermal expansion instrument. With the help of Gleeble-3500, we measured the tensile strength, yield strength and so on.Based on the previous experimental work and considering the factors such as transformation plasticity latent heat, using the nonlinear finite element method, we established a mathematical model. It is a three dimensional mutual coupling calculation model on temperature, microstructure and stress of Cr8 forged steel work roll. Comprehensive utilization of Pro/E and Hypermesh software, we established a one in eight three-dimensional geometrical model and a finite element model. Combined with the actual production situation and used Deform software, we determined the heating process of the cold mill work roll quenching process by several numerical simulations. We analyzed the advantages and disadvantages between the continuous spray quenching process and intermittent spray quenching process, and then determined a more reasonable heat treatment process.
