With dwindling natural resources around the world, the supply and demand of high quality large diameter class timber resources have become increasingly prominent problem, thus developing and using small diameter timber plantation wood is a major trend in the future development of the timber industry, the efficient use of trails grade wood imminent.For the traditional processing methods, problems such as low productivity, low wood utilization and low additional value of the finished products limit the developing of low-diameterclass timber. At the same time, the traditional wood processing factory always lead to a huge threat to the health of workers, because of the poor production processes, large amount of wood dust, poor preventive measures. In order to solve these problems, based on the combination of the highefficiency lower hexagonal cylinder sawing method with the industrial real-time online monitoring, this paper design controlling system of low diameter log precise hexagon molding line, by using personal computer as the master station. The aim of this designation was to improve the level of factory automation to improve wood processing productivity, reduce labor intensity, and protect the health of workers.The main contents of this article are the following aspects:In the context of the development of small diameter timber logs, the background and significance of research was carried out in the paper. Paper reviews the concepts of PLC control and general control of the design process, analyzes the classification of industrial control networks and their characteristics, and details the characteristics of data between the system configuration and PC configuration software to communicate with the database, which laid a solid foundation for the further research. Based on the process of low diameter log precise hexagon molding line, PLC and inverter were used to control objects and the configuration software Kingview was used to monitoring the whole process.After analyzing the production process, in order to achieve the automatic controlling process, designation of auxiliary feeding machines, including mechanical design and control software design, were carried out. Both the mechanical part and the controlling part could fulfill the requirements.The PLC controlling system of hexagon precision molding machine, for example, was deeply studied based on single PLC-based controller. Then the other controlling parts were designed.The monitoring system were designed after the completion of all the single PLC-based controller. The real-time monitoring and controlling were realized by both the production line actual situation and the communication between master station and slave stations. Also, the data exchange between configuration software Kingview and database of third party(Microsoft Access) was achieved.Controlling system of low diameter log precise hexagon molding line possess all the following functions, including real-time monitoring, data processing, PC based online display, system alarm, and etc. In the developing and testing process, relatively good controlling result was acquired and the system could meet the control requirements. Thus, research of this paper could provide a reference for improving the domestic wood automatic processing production line.
